Universal Orlando has posted another job opening for a fireworks technician position, marking the latest development in the company's apparent preparation for a major nighttime show at Epic Universe. The new theme park opened in May 2024 without a signature nighttime spectacular, leaving many guests wondering when such an offering might debut.

The recent job posting follows a pattern of similar hirings throughout 2025 and early 2026, suggesting Universal is building a dedicated pyrotechnics team for the park. These positions typically require specialized certifications and experience with large-scale fireworks displays, indicating the company's serious commitment to launching a nighttime entertainment offering.

Universal's approach to Epic Universe's nighttime entertainment has evolved significantly since the park's opening. Initially, company executives remained noncommittal about fireworks, citing various operational considerations and the park's unique layout centered around Celestial Park, the central hub connecting all themed lands.

In June 2025, Universal publicly stated they were "still looking into" fireworks options for Epic Universe during a media briefing. This measured response suggested the company was carefully evaluating technical and logistical challenges associated with implementing pyrotechnics at the new facility.

The trademark filing in December 2025 for "Universal Celestial Goodnight" represented the first concrete evidence of Universal's fireworks plans. The application, filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, covers entertainment services including fireworks displays and nighttime shows. The trademark's name directly references Celestial Park, the circular hub at Epic Universe's center.

Accompanying the trademark application was a distinctive logo design featuring celestial elements and typography consistent with Epic Universe's overall branding. The logo's star and cosmic imagery aligns with the park's space and fantasy themes, particularly the central area's astronomical motifs.

Epic Universe's design appears particularly well-suited for a central nighttime show. Celestial Park's circular configuration provides 360-degree viewing opportunities, with pathways and elevated areas offering sight lines toward the center. The park's five themed lands - The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park - all connect to this central hub.
