Orlando Family Stage Democratizes Theater Access With Finding Nemo Pay-What-You-Wish Model

Orlando Family Stage is lowering barriers to live theater this spring. The venue announced a pay-what-you-wish pricing structure for children's tickets to its production of Finding Nemo: A 60-Minute Family Musical, which opens Saturday, April 11, and runs through May 10, 2026.

Under the new model, youth tickets carry a $10 minimum with no seating restrictions—meaning families can choose where they sit regardless of what they pay. Adult tickets remain at standard pricing.

The move reflects a deliberate strategy to keep theater accessible during an inflationary period. Chris Brown, Executive Director of Orlando Family Stage, framed the decision as a response to rising costs across the economy.

"We know that prices are going up everywhere, and we want to help balance that for families," Brown said. "Thanks to dedicated support from our donors, we're able to offer children's tickets as pay-what-you-wish, creating more opportunities for families to experience the magic of live theatre together."

What to Expect From the 60-Minute Adaptation

The production condenses the beloved Pixar film into an hour-long musical experience. The adaptation follows anxious clownfish Marlin as he crosses the ocean to find his son Nemo, accompanied by Dory, Crush, and other familiar characters from the original story.

The score comes from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the songwriting duo behind Frozen and Coco. Their involvement signals a production designed to balance theatrical ambition with family-friendly entertainment.

The show runs at Loch Haven, the venue's home base in Orlando.

A Century of Family Theater

Orlando Family Stage's commitment to accessibility reflects its broader mission. The organization has been operating for 100 years, positioning itself as a long-standing fixture in Central Florida's cultural landscape.

The pay-what-you-wish model for children's tickets represents a tangible expression of that mission during a specific production window. Families interested in attending should note the April 11 opening date and May 10 closing date when planning their theater visits.
